VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital – Primary Care – Denver, Colorado

The Challenge
Alameda East Veterinary Hospital was founded by Dr. Robert Taylor, DVM/MS to care for animals in the Denver Metro area and host the popular Animal Planet TV show Emergency Vets. Housing both general practice and specialty services, the facility was busting at the seams.

In 2017, with limited options to expand the hospital, VCA decided to renovate the expansive boarding and rehab building into a dedicated general practice hospital—enabling specialty services to expand into the old general practice areas. The completed two building campus boasts over 32,000 square feet of veterinary space.

The Solution
The renovation started by removing the large rehab pools, as well as a large structural wall in the center of the building. This provided an open-and-airy lobby space, 11 new exam rooms, the addition of dentistry services, two operating rooms and a ward for exotic animals. The interior color palette was thoughtfully chosen to encourage a low-stress environment for the animals, clients and staff.
